Where your water comes from

Haverhill draws on four surface water sources with two more held in reserve. All of them reach the treatment plant through Kenoza Lake, the terminal reservoir the plant sits beside.

  • Kenoza Lake

    Terminal reservoir

The treatment plant sits adjacent. All other sources arrive here first.

  • Millvale Reservoir

    Pumped supply

Currently offline, held at lower levels to capture future rainfall.

  • Crystal Lake

    Pumped supply

Approximately 1 million gallons per day pumped into the system.

  • Round Pond

    Gravity supply

Flows to Kenoza Lake by gravity, no pumping required.

  • Chadwick Pond

    Emergency reserve

    Held for emergency use only.

  • Johnsons Pond

    Emergency reserve

    Held for emergency use only.

How it is treated

The plant was built in 1980 and completely renovated in 2020. It can treat 12 million gallons a day and produces over 2 billion gallons a year.
